So, we are in the month of February now, which, of course, is the month of Love! Everybody knows that Valentine’s Day occurs annually on the 14th February and is a day where we celebrate our love for one another. Traditionally, this is a day for cards, flowers, chocolates and jewellery – but few people know it is the number one day for breakfast in bed. Then just make sure you add a lot of red – fresh strawberries, fresh raspberries, fresh cherries, and finish with a drizzle of strawberry coulis.

If your partner is more of a bowl of cereal breakfast person, then that’s fine, but don’t just plonk some cereal in a bowl, think about presenting it as beautifully as possible. Place the bowl on a doily on a plate and add a silver spoon and a freshly laundered napkin, and you will enhance their eating experience. Also, make sure that whatever it is you decided to cook for them for breakfast, you think about the accompaniments they might need to go with it – be it cream or sugar, pepper or salt, make sure there is no excuse for them to get out of bed and ruin the moment. After all, the devil is in the detail.

Think about little things you can do to delight and surprise your loved one. Perhaps write a poem or book two tickets to their favourite destination and slide them under the plate.
